What's a Blog?

A "blog" can be a personal diary. A daily pulpit. A collaborative space. A political soapbox. A breaking-news outlet. A collection of links. Your own private thoughts. Memos to the world. "Blogs" are published and available for viewing on the Internet.

The term "blog" originated from people posting "logs" of their thoughts, arguements, etc. on the Internet. As the "World Wide Web" (www) came into being, they called their postings "WebLogs". This is now shortened to "blogs", and the people doing the posting are called "bloggers". "Blogs" are so popular now that newspapers and TV newscasters often review and quote "bloggers" as current samples of public opinion on politics, etc.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but you may not see the blog, "Paul and Janet Travels" on CNN anytime soon.
